This is me snapped whilst trekking on the Dorset coast, South of England, with my wife Jill in June 2003. Jill is an amateur artist who paints mainly landscape, and I'm interested mainly in landscape photography too, so we spend a good deal of our liesure time outdoors. Jill likes to settle down for long periods while she paints, so we carry enough gear in our packs to be self-sufficient for the whole day.
Most of my poems get written outdoors too, so my subjects tend to be pastoral in nature, sometimes wry comments on human nature, sometimes humorous. Over the coming months I plan to post my photographs, Jill's paintings, my poems and prose pieces, and accounts of anything interesting that crops up in our lives.

I just noticed this was taken in Dorset (and what a handsome lad in this photo!). Ever been in Wimborne? A boater friend I met twenty five years ago moved back home to England and settled there. She's sent photos of the town ever so often and it's beautiful.
Sorry I didn't respond earlier Pris - so busy with so many things, I forgot to check my own blog! I don't think we went to Wimborne, but we stayed in a tiny village called Worth Matravers, near the coast, for a week; we had a great time walking the coastal tracks, photographing and sketching. Dorset is a beautiful county, certainly. If we ever go down that way again, give me your friend's address and we'll look her up. G.

At last I've managed to get into your blog and what a treat it was.
Love your prose style ...just as fine as your poetry.
Glad I've now met Jill.
My sister is visiting me at the moment and she looked over my shoulder at your blog and said she's been to Yorkshire and Dorset. She enjoyed the trip down memory lane.

Dawn - glad you were able to look in, and also give your sister a nostalgic look at the old country. I can't manage to keep the blog up as frequently as I would wish, but will post a new entry from time to time. Geoff.
